Foldable Displays Scheduled for 2016

We have been waiting for foldable smartphones for some years, but 2016 could really could the year we finally get one.
Back in 2013, Samsung leaked a five-year plan for its mobile technology. Under the screen section, it pegged 2016 for foldable displays. These phones would fold up to fit in your pocket, but could have a screen the size of a tablet’s.
Samsung has already shown something called Project Valley (pictured below), so we even have a hint at what 2016’s folding phone could look like.
Rollable screens
If folding your phone like a wallet does not get your attention, what about rolling up a larger display like a poster?
2016 might be just a few weeks old, but LG has already publicly shown an 18-inch rollable screen. It is only the display that LG has managed to make super-flexible, with all the other hardware housed in a solid case at the bottom, but it’s still pretty impressive.

Given the screen size, it seems LG is thinking big tablet rather than smartphone, but there’s no reason the company couldn’t spend 2016 testing something like the picture below.
